Top U.K. rapper, Faith Child, has released a new album, titled “When Faith Feels Far.” The artist released the album on Aug. 29, 2025, and said the album is about moments of despair, songs that speak into the hardships of humanity, and for those who feel God has forsaken them.
The album talks about current cultural issues, including church hurt. “That concept of church hurt has been on my heart for a while. I’ve seen friends leave the faith, I’ve seen older brothers in the faith leave the faith, I’ve seen mentors in the faith leave the faith, and I’m thinking, ‘wow, like what is going on?’” He said the song, titled “Church Hurt,” and featuring U.K. spoken word artist Briggs The Wordsmith, was meant to address the issue of church offenses, to tell victims that he hears them, and to create a space for dialogue.

Aside from addressing the broader problem of church hurt, Faith Child gives listeners a glimpse into his personal life on the track “Good Mourning”: the loss of his dad during COVID-19. “On that song, it says, ‘I’m preparing for death, but praying for healing.’ That’s something I say on the song. And I’ll be honest: Inasmuch as it was difficult and challenging, I had time to process. It was almost a bit like cancer. I hate cancer, but one of the joys of cancer in inverted commas is that it gives you time to prepare.”
In addition, he said, his father’s death drew him closer to God. “It drew me closer to God, in which it then made me think about what is actually important in life. What am I actually doing? Is what I’m doing something of value, something of significance, something of impact? And I think, yeah … it was beautiful. I didn’t doubt God for any moment … Thankfully, that wasn’t … in my case.”

Moreover, “When Faith Feels Far” features American artists such as Mary, Mary’s Erica Campbell on “Wildfire” and Maverick City’s Joe L. Barnes on “Holy Place.” It also includes U.K. artist Called Out Music and Marizu, with whom he collaborated on his Afrogospel song, “Oluwa is Involved.” Concerning his collaborations, Faith Child said, “I think what it is is that a lot of these collaborators I’m friends with, so it’s the case of music is secondary to our relationship … So music just comes off the back of us being good friends and getting along well. So yeah, that has been a blessing with a lot of these collaborators and the songs that we are creating.”
